Examining how FinTech and digitisation are reshaping market efficiency, investor behaviour, financial inclusion, and capital allocation in South African capital markets.

The researcher wanted to understand how FinTech and digitisation are changing capital markets in South Africa. The study aimed to examine how these technologies influence market efficiency, investor behaviour, financial inclusion, and capital allocation. The researcher also wanted to understand the opportunities, risks, and regulatory challenges that come with increasing digital transformation in financial markets.
Intelligent Data worked closely with the researcher throughout the study. We assisted with refining the research objectives and developing a research framework that connected FinTech, digitisation, and capital market performance.
We supported the identification of suitable data sources and helped structure a mixed-methods approach that combined qualitative and quantitative evidence. We also assisted with designing the data collection process and developing instruments to gather information from capital market participants and industry stakeholders.
Once the data requirements had been defined, we helped organise and prepare the datasets for analysis. We supported the analysis of information relating to market structure, investor participation, trading systems, financial inclusion, and regulatory developments. We also assisted with interpreting the findings and translating the results into practical insights and policy recommendations that addressed the opportunities and challenges associated with digital transformation in capital markets.
The study provided a comprehensive understanding of how FinTech and digitisation are reshaping capital markets. The analyses highlighted both the benefits and challenges of digital transformation, including improvements in access and efficiency as well as concerns relating to regulation, governance, and market stability.
The findings helped the researcher understand the changing nature of capital markets and the role of digital technologies in shaping financial systems. The results informed practical recommendations on how regulators, policymakers, financial institutions, and market participants can encourage innovation while maintaining market integrity, transparency, and investor protection. The study also contributed to a broader understanding of how digital finance can support more efficient and inclusive capital markets in South Africa.
